Anxiety into Awakening
Why anxiety might indicate growth…
Happy almost spring! The beautiful blooms and baby birds are bringing me much joy. How about you? And as spring draws near, we are all greeted with opportunities for collective change and growth - a time of growth and rebirth for us as a community and as individuals… however - change can increase feelings of anxiety and overwhelm. While we may be temped to push away our symptoms, I invite you to explore them with curiosity.
Anxiety symptoms are awful, that's for sure. But could they indicate that it's time to make a change, or to care for ourselves better, or to create new boundaries? When do they show up and with whom? Getting curious about symptoms always gives us insights into them. This curiosity might be indicating an awakening within - where you begin to shed parts of yourself that don't serve you anymore.
And in particular, symptoms might coexist with and contribute to states of awakening because our symptoms can very often pop up during some of the following experiences that are common during periods of consciousness expansion…
Anxiety into an Awakening…
Are you experiencing these states?
Feeling like much of your life has been in autopilot and now you’re beginning to feel like you're in the drivers seat
Questioning beliefs you’ve held for some of all of your life, particularly ones that are rooted in systems (religious, political and economic systems)
Recognizing that you have needs and it’s ok to ask for them to be met. This might shake some relational dynamics
Caring less about what others think of you for your choices & ideas. Or at least playing around with it caring less (it can be a process)
Taking yourself more seriously (honoring and respecting your time, thoughts, self care practices more)
All of these experiences (and many others) point to change occurring or wanting to occur within you. Anxiety is common with change. This is how we can start getting curious about symptoms and wonder if they’re popping up because something big - an expansion of consciousness - is moving through you. The collective is experiencing a shift in consciousness… if you’re reading this- you are probably too! Reach out for support and connection during these growth times. I'd love to hear from you. How are you working on becoming more curious about your anxiety and stress symptoms?
Wishing you the very best of health,
Meghan
