Anxious Empaths and Self Care

As an "anxious empath", self care is a must. (To learn more about whether you're an anxious empath, read and listen here and more on relationship patterns here)

Here are 3 tips to improving self care. And learn about my #1 way to reduce sugar addition in this youtube clip!

Learn about your body

Your body speaks to you. Through physical symptoms, emotional ones, and you must make taking care of your body a priority. Because you likely have a heightened nervous system, take time to take care. Eat regularly, focus on eating protein, and reduce or avoid sugar and caffeine. Prioritize sleep and unwind at night with a regular practice like stretching, reading or journaling. This is important to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. If you are highly anxious, your fight or flight system is on alert. We must actively work to activate the rest and relaxation system in the body through breath work, quiet time and yoga.

Accept your limitations

If you feel tired, rest. It’s easy for sensitive people to become depleted, or experience shifting moods. Be aware of this, and notice when you become off balance. Take measures to find balance, and recognize that staying out of sorts for too long can and will result in anxiety.

Understand Boundaries

It is ok and good to care about your mood and your health. As you begin to check in with yourself on how you feel around other people, you can know how you feel in balance and how you feel out of balance. Were you feeling great until you came around someone in a bad mood? Recognize that your energetic boundaries can be thinner, and engage in coping to move you back to your center.

Also, recognize your boundaries with others and do not give to depletion.

How do you prioritize self care as an anxious empath? Would love to hear your thoughts!

Warmly, Meghan
